Poem(s) of the Day April 17
Today I taught a lesson on personification and was happy to find a poem by Langston Hughes that I didn't know before, but fit well with the lesson.
April Rain Song
Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night
And I love the rain.
by Langston Hughes
I wish I'd thought to bring in this poem by Carl Sandburg, another one of my favorites:
Fog
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
by Carl Sandburg
